Museum Night Amsterdam 2023
Saturday November 4th
19:00 - 02:00
Current Exhibition
The group exhibition Yes, I Do celebrates romantic love. You will be presented with artworks from five 'successful' couples in love that can serve as an example for your own love life. Individually, they have sought inspiration in what is most familiar to them: their relationship with their significant other.
Performance by Marieke van Rooy
19:30 - 20:00
During the evening, artist Marieke van Rooy, one of the participating artists in the Yes, I Do exhibition, will be present to perform. Her work, Ode to the Man Who Can Do Everything is considered a living artwork, consisting of three acts performed by Marieke van Rooy. These acts highlight various aspects of the couple's relationship, simultaneously evoking recognition from the audience. They depict partners as lovers, as children encouraging each other's playfulness, and as pillars in their relationship.
Love Portrait by Tengbeh Kamara & Sophie Engels
20:00 - 23:00
Immortalize yourself and your great love with the artist duo Tengbeh Kamara & Sophie Engels, artists whose work is also on display in the Yes, I Do exhibition. Kamara and Engels are not only artists but also partners in love, and they often specialize in analog portrait photography of people. During Museum Night, they will capture you and your partner (or best friend, dog, or grandma) together. You will receive the Polaroid photo immediately as a lasting memento of your special bond.
Slow-Jam Silent Disco
19:00 - 02:00
During Museum Night, Nieuw Dakota is hosting a silent disco that perfectly aligns with the theme of the exhibition. Don't expect energetic hits, but rather relaxing slow-jam classics that you can immerse yourself in, together with your partner, best friend, or companion. Let the songs (guilty pleasures?) by artists like Usher, Janet Jackson, TLC, and Boys II Men sweep you off your feet as you shuffle, dance, and let romance bloom!
Visit Nieuw Dakota for art, performances, drinks, and, of course, lots of love!
