This workshop will be conducted in Dutch.

Have you recently had your heart broken? Are you still not over an old love? Do you need some help to forget your heartbreak? Then come to the How To Have A Broken Heart workshop on Wednesday, March 20.

The evening begins with a talk by writer and queen of the broken heart, Alma Mathijsen, who has written the texts for our current exhibition It's Not You, It's Me.

Alma Mathijsen will guide you through the infinite swamp of heartbreak. Rest assured, it only seems endless when you're in it. She will show you that you don't have to grow to get out of it. Through prose and rituals, she proves that heartbreak may even be quite healthy.

About Alma Mathijsen
Alma Mathijsen (1984) is a writer. After a failed relationship, she organized a funeral during which she buried napkins with dried tears to cope with her heartbreak. In her novella Ik wil geen hond zijn (I don't want to be a dog) (2019), she tells the story of a woman who decides to transform into a dog to be reunited with her ex-lover.

Following this, there will be a ritual print workshop using Venetian Monotypes. This is a natural photographic printing technique that originated in Venice to capture former lovers one last time. During this ritual print workshop, you will create a final portrait of you and your ex—a visual representation and action to bid farewell for good.

Email us your photo before Monday, March 18, and we will ensure it is ready to use.

We conclude the evening with a drink.
