From Friday 12 October until Sunday 28 October, we present in collaboration with Het Vijfde Seizoen/Beautiful Distress and Grey Men, and curated by Mette Samkalden, the exhibition To The Beat of My Own Drum.
This exhibition shows the audiovisual work of 5 artists that work on the crossroads of visual arts, the music industry and nightlife. The exhibition that Samkalden curated is a multi-sensory experience, stimulated by light, sound and moving images. An exhibition that does not require any knowledge of music or art and in which so called ‘high culture’ and ‘club culture’ merge, showing how closely connected the various disciplines are. Not only in the visual works, but also in the in-depth programming that is realised in collaboration with ADE. Between the works, which range from videos to interactive installations and from sound- and lightscapes to paintings, we organize public conversations, events, performances and art education.
To The Beat Of My Own Drum presents works by Boris Acket & Nick Verstand, Heleen Blanken, Jochem Esser, Anan Striker and Danielle Kwaaitaal. The artists made new (site specific) works and adaptations of existing objects.
On the occassion of Amsterdam Dance Event we extend our opening hours until 23:00 hrs.
Participating artists: Boris Acket and Nick Verstand, Heleen Blanken, Jochem Esser, Children of the Light and Danielle Kwaaitaal
